MADRID (AP) - Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso had no reason to celebrate his unusual “hat trick” on Sunday.

Hermoso scored three times in a 3-2 loss at Leganes in the Spanish league, but only one goal counted for his team.

The 22-year-old Hermoso was responsible for two own-goals at Butarque Stadium, the first while trying to intercept a low cross inside the area in the 11th minute, giving host Leganes a 1-0 lead.

He found his own net again while trying to clear a cross in the 82nd, allowing Leganes to take a 3-1 lead.

Hermoso finally scored for his own team six minutes later, as the ball careened off his face and went into the net after being punched away by goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar.
