Dean Heller: I now have a ‘much closer’ relationship with Trump

Sen. Dean Heller said his relationship with President Trump is “much closer” than it once was, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The Nevada Republican acknowledged that he was not “one of the biggest supporters” of Mr. Trump during the election, but that the two didn’t really know one another. He said now after working together on major pieces of legislation such as health care and tax reform, he has a different opinion of the president.

Mr. Heller is also facing a primary challenger in businessman Danny Tarkanian, who former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has considered backing. Mr. Heller is one of the few Republicans who appear vulnerable in this year’s midterm elections.
