Just a day after Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians announced his retirement, Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer did the same through an open letter released on Tuesday.

“Over the years, I’ve had teammates who decided to hang it up and I would ask them how they knew when it was time to walk away,” Palmer wrote. “The answer was almost always the same: you just know. For me that time is now. Why? Quite simply, I just know.”
The three-time Pro Bowler had his 2017 season cut short due to a broken left arm with his final game coming in a Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
The 2002 Heisman Trophy winner finishes his 14-year NFL career with 46,247 passing yards and 294 touchdown passes, both currently the 12th highest marks in NFL history.
