With the relationship between NBA players and officials already strained, Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul went after referee Scott Foster following Houston’s 121-112 win over the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday night.Â
Paul was expressing his displeasure with Foster giving him a technical foul in the fourth quarter of the game.Â
“Scott Foster at his finest. Never fails,” Paul told reporters in the locker room, per ESPN.com’s Tim MacMahon. “… I got a tech tonight. I’m over there with [referee] Courtney [Kirkland] saying ’That’s Scott. That’s Scott.’ And I get a tech. There’s history there. He’s the man. That’s who they pay to see.”
The nine-time All-Star’s comments come during an intense period of tension between players and referees, both parties feeling they don’t have the respect of the other.Â
A meeting between players and officials is being scheduled for All-Star Weekend in February to try and resolve these ongoing issues.Â
