President Trump said Wednesday that he will not begin construction on any part of the wall until the entire project is approved.
“I have decided that sections of the Wall that California wants built NOW will not be built until the whole Wall is approved. Big victory yesterday with ruling from the courts that allows us to proceed. OUR COUNTRY MUST HAVE BORDER SECURITY!” Mr. Trump tweeted.
On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel sided with the Department of Homeland Security to waive environmental protections on an area for the border wall. This is the same judge Mr. Trump once accused of being biased against him due to his Mexican heritage.
Congress has yet to pass a bill funding the border wall, however, as the issue is tied up in the immigration bill. Lawmakers originally hoped to have the bill passed by March 5 when DACA protections on those brought to the U.S. illegally as children are set to expire.
