RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Reno City Council has voted unanimously to create a misconduct hotline where city workers can register complaints anonymously.
Mayor Hillary Schieve (SHEE’-vee) proposed the idea last week and the council approved it Wednesday.
The move comes on the heels of criticism about the way the city has handled a series of complaints about sexual misconduct. But the mayor says she wants to be available 24 hours a day to field any sort of concerns ranging from sexual harassment to waste, fraud and abuse.
The number is 1-866-RNO-TIPS. Two human resources staff members will be responsible for listening to each message and investigating complaints.
Schieve also suggested that the city send a survey to all employees to collect their input on the process.
