Former postal worker accused of mail theft takes plea deal

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a former Lincoln postal worker caught with stolen mail has pleaded guilty.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that 44-year-old Domonic Harris is scheduled to be sentenced in April on a charge of illegal transactions with an access device. Federal prosecutors dismissed two other counts in exchange for Harris’ plea, which was entered Wednesday.

A prosecutor says in court records that, from Jan. 1 to Feb. 13 last year, Harris worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was found to have filled out cards changing people’s mailing addresses. His goal: credit card information. Investigators say Harris obtained at least 12 credit cards in victims’ names and charged about $6,000 on them.
