HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Police in a south Mississippi city are charging a man with hindering prosecution after they questioned him about a woman missing since Nov. 25.
Local news outlets report Hattiesburg police arrested 29-year-old Timothy Evans of Laurel on Thursday. Online records showed he was not present in the Forrest County jail Friday.
Falisa Carter has been missing from her Hattiesburg home since Nov. 25 and police on Dec. 3 arrested her boyfriend, Demarus McGruder of Laurel. The 32-year-old McGruder is charged with kidnapping and is jailed without bail in Forrest County.
Police had earlier issued a statement saying they were looking for Evans, saying they believed he had information about Carter’s disappearance.
Although McGruder was charged with Carter’s kidnapping, her whereabouts are still unknown.
