DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Law enforcement in Alabama says a man charged in a slaying has surrendered to police.
Decatur police spokeswoman Emily Long says 36-year-old Lashawn Kentrell Caudle was charged with capital murder in the death of 35-year-old Anthony Lewis.
News outlets report that police found Lewis suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg on Friday afternoon near Parkway Place Apartments. A statement says he was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Lewis was taken for emergency surgery at a hospital and later died.
Police got a warrant for Caudle’s arrest, and he turned himself in. Lawyer John Mays says he expects to represent Caudle on the charge.
