NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) - A fire has torn through a suburban New York church two days after Christmas.
The blaze was reported around 8 a.m. Thursday at Zion Baptist Church in New Rochelle. There are no immediate reports of injuries.
Photos and video from news outlets show smoke coursing and flames spurting through the shingled roof of the church on Lockwood Avenue.
Witness Gerry Edwards tells the Journal News he was at a nearby bus stop when he noticed smoke and called authorities.
The church’s phone isn’t working amid the blaze.
