COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Weather forecasters warn of high fire danger amid gusty winds and warm temperatures in southern Colorado.
The National Weather Service posted a rare wintertime red-flag warning Friday for Colorado Springs and much of southern Colorado.
Meteorologist Makoto Moore tells the Colorado Springs Gazette says any kind of spark could start a fire once winds pick up.
The forecast calls for gusts up to 35 mph (56 kilometers per hour) and humidity as low as 11 percent with temperatures in the upper 50s (14 degrees Celsius)
Forecasters say temperatures will drop back to normal over the weekend.
