President Trump announced the signing of the farm bill Thursday — with a “Green Acres” parody.
The former reality-TV star took to Twitter to announce that “Farm Bill signing in 15 minutes!” and linked a video he and Megan Mullally had made at the 2005 Emmys.

In the clip, Mr. Trump is dressed in dungaree overalls over a white T-shirt and in a straw hat while Ms. Mullally is decked out in high-fashion. They then sing the theme song to “Green Acres,” a surrealist late-1960s sitcom about two Manhattan socialites who head out to Hooterville to live the farm life — to usually disastrous results.
In the clip, Mr. Trump gets big laughs from the Emmy audience with his off-key singing, while Ms. Mullally imitates the gassy voice of Eva Gabor in the original but changes a reference about the great things in Manhattan to include “Trump Towers.”
When Mr. Trump arrived at the Farm-Bill signing ceremony, he entered to big applause.
“Please that was from the Emmys. I sang ‘Green Acres’ and received a very nice award that day. That was really great. We had that — somebody had that — I said, ‘Put it on.’ Not too much,” he said.
In less than 20 minutes, it had gathered almost 7,000 retweets, more than 20,000 likes and not a few comments wondering whether this was an appropriate way to announce signing the Farm Bill.
