DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Tax returns of Iowa Democratic candidate for governor Fred Hubbell show he and his wife earned just over $3 million last year from a variety of sources including capital gains on the sale of stock, income from businesses in which he owns an interest, stock dividends and payments for serving on corporate boards.

Fred Hubbell, a 67-year-old retired business executive, says he’ll release his tax forms annually if he’s elected governor in November.

Hubbell’s campaign says the release Thursday is an act of transparency in line with previous candidates for governor, but Gov. Kim Reynolds says she released 10 years of her returns and Hubbell should do more.

Hubbell and his wife reported charitable giving of nearly $1.3 million and a combined state and federal tax bill of $647,000.
