KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Kansas City man has pleaded guilty to running a mother off a road and causing a fatal wreck after an altercation with the woman’s husband.
The Kansas City Star reports that 22-year-old Juan Sanchez pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.
Prosecutors allege that Sanchez chased after Saudi in a truck in January 2017. During the chase, Sanchez’s truck tapped or hit Saudi’s car, causing it to go off the road and hit a utility pole. Saudi died at a hospital. Her 4-year-old was in the backseat and was injured.
Sanchez didn’t stop at the crash scene. Court records say he instead parked the truck near a family member’s house, removed his license plates and put a tarp over the truck.
Sentencing is set for Oct. 19.
