The Redskins are signing running back Adrian Peterson, according to the NFL Network.

Peterson, 33, spent last season with the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals. He ran for 529 yards and one touchdown in 10 games before suffering a season-ending neck injury.

The Redskins were in need of another running back after the team lost rookie Derrius Guice for the season and backups Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (leg) were also banged up.

The deal is for one year, according to USA Today.
