ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A man convicted of beating and fatally stabbing his wife’s ex-husband in Albuquerque has been sentenced to life in prison plus 12 years.
Terry White was given the maximum sentence Thursday in the December 2016 death of Don Fluitt.
The 51-year-old White will be eligible for parole after 30 years, however.
Two months ago, a jury found White guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary and tampering with evidence.
Prosecutors say Fluitt was found dead in his garage of his northwest Albuquerque home amid a custody battle with his ex-wife over their then-11-year-old daughter.
White was charged in the case after his DNA was found under Fluitt’s fingernails.
