BENTON, La. (AP) - A body believed to be that of a man missing since Aug. 3 has been found in Mississippi, in a town with the same name as his Louisiana home town, authorities said.
The body believed to be that of Shawn “Corey” King, 32, of Benton, Louisiana, was found Wednesday in a field near Benton, Mississippi, according to a news release Wednesday from the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The unincorporated Mississippi community is about 200 miles (325 kilometers) east of Benton, Louisiana, the Bossier Parish seat.
King’s crashed black 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was found Tuesday night, not far from where the body was found. Authorities said there was no obvious sign of foul play.
Bossier Parish deputies went to Yazoo County, Mississippi, on Wednesday to help with the investigation.
An earlier news release said King had been scheduled to begin a new job in Ruston, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) east of Benton, Louisiana, on Aug. 6, but had not returned to get the bag he was packing.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the case, the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
