GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - East Carolina says former Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart will remain with the school for an extra three months.

Chancellor Cecil Station on Tuesday announced that Hart will remain in his role as special advisor to the chancellor for athletics until Dec. 15.

The extension will allow him to observe the full football season and the start of basketball season. Coach Scottie Montgomery enters his third season following a pair of 3-9 finishes. Hart also led the men’s basketball coaching search, which resulted in the hiring of Joe Dooley from Florida Gulf Coast.

Hart came aboard after athletic director Jeff Compher resigned under pressure in May after five years. Hart’s original appointment was to expire on Sept. 15.
