RICHMOND, Va. — New York Jets wide receiver Terrelle Pryor will not play against his former team Thursday when the Jets take on the Washington Redskins.

Pryor is working his way back from two surgeries, and revealed Monday he broke his ankle in the offseason, which required another operation.

Last year, Pryor’s season with the Redskins was limited to just nine games because of a foot injury he suffered in Week 2. That injury also required surgery.

Pryor is participating in this week’s joint practice sessions, but said he’s been limited to 10 reps per day.

The Redskins once envisioned Pryor as their No. 1 receiver when they signed him to a one-year, $6 million deal in 2017. But he underwhelmed, in part because of his injury and partly because of him being an odd fit in Jay Gruden’s offense. He finished the year with 20 catches for 247 yards and a touchdown.

New York, hoping they could revitalize his career, signed Pryor to a one-year, $4.5 million contract with only $2 million guaranteed.

However, Pryor is not a lock to make the team’s final roster, which could explain why he sounded eager to appear in a game at some point this preseason.

I have to hit a preseason game definitely just to get out there and obviously I want to show the coaches, the coaches want to see how I fit in with the team,” Pryor said. “Obviously, practice shows a lot, too, but I want to get out there in front of the fans, I want to get out there and make a play so I can hear people roar.”
