TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a child was duct-taped and taken away in a vehicle near a Tacoma elementary school.

The Tacoma Police Department says on Monday afternoon officers responded to DeLong Elementary School on a report of a man duct-taping a boy and putting him into a car before driving away.

The News Tribune reports that a group of elementary students saw the man, who had duct-taped the boy’s legs as he sat on the ground.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool says the students started recording on cellphones and called 911 after they drove away in a car.

Cool said Monday evening that the child had been located and that his grandfather may have been the one restraining him.

Cool says police will continue to investigate.
