PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a suspect who died in Phoenix police custody after an officer used a stun gun to help arrest him.

Police Sgt. Vince Lewis says the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of 39-year-old Michael Snyder’s death Wednesday night.

Lewis says police were called to an apartment complex and learned that a fight started when Snyder was found inside another person’s apartment.

According to Lewis, Snyder fought with an officer and that an officer used a stun gun as Snyder resisted arrest. Lewis also says witnesses helped take Snyder into custody.

Lewis says Snyder became unresponsive and that officers and Fire Department personnel attempted life-saving measures.
