CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - Enrollment at Western Carolina University has topped 11,000 for the first time.
Figures from the National Center for Educational Services shows enrollment at the school in Cullowhee reached 11,043 for the fall semester.
Western Carolina topped 10,000 for the first time in 2013.
It’s the fifth time in six years that enrollment has increased at the school.
The school added a record freshman class of nearly 2,000 students. The school said the GPA of the new high school students was a record 3.83.
The school had nearly 19,500 applications for the fall 2017 class.
