CARIBOU, Maine (AP) - Caribou residents are awakening to frost after basking in near-90 degree weather this week.

All told, there have been four consecutive daily high temperature records in Caribou, Maine, with the temperature topping 80 degrees each time. The mercury peaked at 88 on Monday and Tuesday.

But all good things must come to an end.

On Saturday, there was frost as seasonal temperatures returned.

The National Weather Service acknowledges the wild temperature swing, but things are actually getting back to normal. And the cooler weather is better for the potato harvest that’s underway in northern Maine.
