WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The former executive director of a homeless shelter in Delaware who pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $190,000 from the nonprofit has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

WDEL-FM reports that 51-year-old Eric Harris was sentenced Friday in Wilmington.

Harris was executive director of Sojourners’ Place, which provides shelter and other services to homeless men and women to help them obtain jobs and housing.

Prosecutors say Harris stole donation checks sent to the organization and deposited them into a bank account he controlled.
