SHAFTSBURY, Vt. (AP) - Bennington College in Vermont says it will be taking ownership of a museum dedicated to Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Robert Frost.
The Robert Frost Stone House Museum in Shaftsbury was the poet’s home for nine years, from 1920 to 1929. Frost wrote “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” at the house in June 1922, and he was also living there when he received his first Pulitzer Prize in 1924.
It was opened as a museum 15 years ago.
The nonprofit owners - The Friends of Robert Frost - will operate the museum through Nov. 1. The college will receive the house, seven acres of property and two barns.
Bennington says it will incorporate the house into its literature and writing programs.
