LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (AP) - The NCAA says a Vermont college faces sanctions for improperly awarding sports leadership scholarships.

NCAA rules prevent Division III schools, like Lyndon State College, from awarding any sports-related scholarships. Vermont Public Radio reports (https://bit.ly/2xTrr89 ) Elaine Collins, the college’s president, says the school is working with the NCAA to fix the situation.

Collins says the administration has changed its processes to ensure the problem won’t occur again, saying it was an institutional problem and the students did nothing wrong.

Lyndon is also under a minor five-year NCAA probation for not meeting sport sponsorship rules during the last school year.
