BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) - Bellevue police say more than 100 people have been arrested for soliciting prostitution.
Police said Friday the arrests stemmed from the conclusion of an undercover operation by investigators with the Bellevue Police Department and the King County Sheriff’s Office aimed at targeting online buyers of sex in King County.
Over seven days, police say dozens of unsuspecting sex buyers answered online ads posted by undercover detectives, then exchanged often-explicit text messages describing sex acts they expected to buy.
They were arrested after showing up at a condo and agreeing to exchange money for sex.
Those arrested are expected to face the misdemeanor charge.
Bellevue Police Chief Steve Mylett says last year authorities dismantled a large scale human trafficking ring in Bellevue and this operation is a continuation of that effort.
