HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Republican state legislator in Pennsylvania has entered the race for a congressional seat being vacated by the Republican challenging Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Casey.
Rep. Stephen Bloom said he “can’t imagine losing this once-in-a-generation opportunity to do so much good.” Bloom, who represents Cumberland County, released a campaign video challenging Republican congressional leaders to deliver on the promises they made during the presidential election.
Fellow Republican Dan Meuser, a former state revenue secretary, earlier announced plans to run for the seat in the 11th District in Congress.
U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, a former small-city mayor in Pennsylvania who shot to national prominence by trying to combat illegal immigration through tough municipal laws, has announced plans to challenge two-term Democratic incumbent Bob Casey for the U.S. Senate seat.
