SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Police say one man has died after the Corvette he was driving struck a tree in South Kingstown.
Capt. Joel Ewing-Chow says police responded to the scene on Liberty Lane near the intersection with Blueberry Lane at about 2:30 p.m. Monday.
The driver, identified Tuesday as 40-year-old Stacy Price, was the lone occupant of the 2016 Corvette and was pronounced dead at the scene. He lived in the Rhode Island village of Carolina.
The death remains under investigation but the preliminary investigation indicates that excessive speed may have been a factor.
There were no witnesses to the accident.
