BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - New Hampshire transportation officials say a longstanding project to build a new bridge between Hinsdale and Brattleboro, Vermont, has reached the final design stage, with construction starting as early as 2020.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports (https://bit.ly/2ftDmPl) that the first Brattleboro-to-Hinsdale bridge committee was created more than two decades ago, but it wasn’t until 2013 that the project passed an environmental impact assessment. New Hampshire transportation officials provided an update last week, describing how the new bridge will be located south of two existing Connecticut River bridges and how it will be approached from Route 119 in New Hampshire and Route 142 in Vermont.
They heard some concerns about whether the bridge’s lighting could contribute to light pollution and the safety of an intersection on the New Hampshire side.
