BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) - A decomposed body has been found in a non-operational car in Alabama.
Capt. Steve Arthur with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office told news outlets the body was found in a vehicle parked behind a vacant building in Bay Minette on Thursday afternoon, following reports of a bad odor coming from the area.
Arthur says a Bay Minette police officer discovered the body inside a white, two-door car covered with a tarp. The car was not in running condition, sitting on blocks with the hood and engine components missing.
The body was taken to the Mobile Department of Forensics for an autopsy and positive identification. Arthur said it appeared the body had been in the car for a long period of time.
He says the cause of death is currently unknown.
