WHEELOCK, Vt. (AP) - Vermont officials say the town of Wheelock has been approved for the state’s Village Center Designation Program.

The Caledonian Record reports the town’s application was approved Sept. 25. The program prioritizes towns for state grants from the Community Development Program, Agency of Natural Resources and Agency of Transportation.

Town Clerk Carol Rossi says she found the program while searching for grants for the Town Hall rehabilitation project.

The application says the town of Wheelock has struggled for the past decade to fund a rehabilitation or replacement for the Town Hall.

Rossi says the Northeastern Vermont Development Association assisted with the application. A senior planner with the NVDA says they are “very happy” to see Wheelock get the designation.
