FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A city in northwest Arkansas is in the running to serve as a host site for a television show.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the Fayetteville City Council approved Tuesday the possibility for a network series to film in the city.

A separate measure would be needed to commit the city to paying $500,000 over two years to the project. Fayetteville Chief Financial Officer Paul Becker says those funds would come out of a reserve fund.

Chung Tan is the director of economic development at the Chamber of Commerce. She says the production company has narrowed their preferred filming locations to two states.

Arkansas Film Commissioner Chris Crane says he couldn’t give more details on the series because of a nondisclosure agreement. He says the city would be portrayed positively.
