BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A new health clinic in Vermont is aiming to make it easier for people to get registered to use medical marijuana.
Vermont Public Radio reports that Canna Care Docs has been operating in Burlington for about two weeks.
Nearly 5,000 people are currently registered to use medical marijuana in the state, but the company says it could help many more people enroll, thanks to a broadening of the list of qualifying conditions, which now includes chronic pain.
Some critics say the company’s model may be sidestepping regulations meant to ensure people cannot simply drop in to get registered. The company says it requires an initial consultation and a follow-up three months later, satisfying state law. They are considering offering virtual follow-up appointments.
