NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police nearly apprehended the man accused of fatally stabbing a program director at a Long Island group home.
Newsday reports police spotted stabbing suspect Andre Patton Wednesday afternoon in Queens. Authorities say the 47-year-old was spotted driving a stolen van. Police say the van had a tracker on it and Patton led police on a chase before parking the van and fleeing on foot.
Police set up a perimeter but couldn’t find Patton.
Patton is accused of killing 70-year-old Patrick Logsdon at the Anthony House in Roosevelt in Nassau County. Logsdon was the program director and deacon of the transitional home for homeless men. Authorities say Patton was a resident at the time of the stabbing.
