HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Helena police say that at least a dozen cars were involved multi-car crash because of icy conditions on the Interstate 15 overpass.

Assistant Police Chief Steve Hagen tells the Independent Record that one of the department’s patrol cars and a Montana Highway Patrol car were also hit during the crashes as the officers was responding to the collisions.

Police say minor damage was reported, but no one was injured in the incidents.



The Montana Department of Transportation has covered the overpass with sand.

Law enforcement officials recommend drivers stay off local roads if possible or schedule an ample amount of time to reach their destination.
