DENVER (AP) - More severe weather is possible Tuesday in Colorado after a powerful spring storm dropped heavy hail throughout the metro Denver area.
The Colorado Mills Mall in suburban Lakewood was evacuated after it was damaged in Monday’s storm. The building is structurally sound, but shoppers were forced to leave because of heavy flooding inside. No one was injured but car windshields in the area were smashed and cracked by hail as large as baseballs.
Pea- to marble-sized hail and heavy rain fell in Greeley. The Greeley Tribune reports that firefighters rescued some people from flooded garden-level apartments.
Southern Colorado could get the worst of the next potential round. The National Weather Service says there’s a potential for heavy rain and flooding there, including Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Canon City after 2 p.m.
