PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Religious relics linked to Saint Padre Pio are now on display at The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.
The relics from Italy include a locket that encases a lock of the saint’s hair and a fragment of his bed.
The relics will remain at the basilica until Monday evening, before they move onto a Pittsburgh church and other stops around the country.
The church classifies the relics as “first-class” meaning they have a direct link to the saint.
The saint was a Capuchin monk in Italy who died in 1968 at the age of 81. He’s considered a mystic and was canonized by Pope John Paul II In 2002.
