NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A Louisiana toddler who was reported missing has been found in New Orleans when police responded to reports of a woman, later identified as the boy’s cousin, suffering an apparent drug overdose.
Lt. Jason Rivarde of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office tells local media that 1-year-old Jaydon McMillon was found unharmed Tuesday afternoon with his cousin, 29-year-old Jaquencia Hall, who had been watching the boy during a family gathering Monday night.
Hall was taken to a hospital. Rivarde says she’ll be arrested on a charge of kidnapping upon her release.
Family members reported the boy missing Tuesday morning. His mother told police that Monday evening she went to lie down because of a headache and left Jaydon in Hall’s care.
It’s unclear if Hall has an attorney.
