CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) - Authorities say a man has died after being run over by the cab of a tractor-trailer at a Virginia lumber company.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that emergency personnel went to Turman Lumber Company in Christiansburg around 6 a.m. Wednesday. In the maintenance shop, deputies found 52-year-old William Kinder Jr. of Riner, who had been struck by a tractor-trailer cab.
The statement says a preliminary investigation shows Kinder was working on the truck, which was in reverse. The truck was started and Kinder was knocked to the ground and run over by the front wheels of the cab.
Federal workplace safety authorities have been notified.
