NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for central, southern and eastern Oklahoma as a line of thunderstorms moves across the state.
Forecasters in Norman, Oklahoma, say severe storms will be possible beginning Saturday afternoon and extending overnight. The tornado watch will remain in effect until midnight.
The storms may be accompanied by very large hail and damaging winds. There is a medium risk of tornadoes with any of the storms late this afternoon and evening in south central Oklahoma.
Storms will develop overnight near a cold front that will move across the area. The storms will be more widespread and could produce large hail up to the size of golf balls and damaging wind gusts up to 80 mph.
The potential for tornadoes will be lower overnight.
