COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) - The mother of a Gonzaga student killed in a boating crash on Lake Coeur d’Alene in northern Idaho last year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.
The Coeur d’Alene Press reports (https://bit.ly/2qqaTxj) that Jessica Breeze filed the lawsuit last week against Dennis Magner of Spokane, Washington.
The lawsuit contends that the 51-year-old Magner was operating the boat at about 9:15 p.m. on July 30 when he collided with a stationary vessel occupied by 21-year-old Caitlin Breeze and two others.
The bodies of those in the stationary boat were recovered from the lake several days after the crash.
Following an investigation, Kootenai County prosecutors didn’t file charges against Magner or any of the other occupants aboard his 2011 Mastercraft.
The lawsuit contends passengers on Magner’s boat lied about who was operating the boat.
