PITTSBURGH (AP) - A body discovered in a river near Pittsburgh over the weekend has been identified as a man who police say jumped from a bridge earlier this year after a car chase.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the body found Sunday in the Allegheny River as 37-year-old Greg Benton.

East Deer police say they chased a car driven by Benton in February until he crashed into a bridge and jumped into the water.

His sister has said she doubts the police story because her brother did not know how to swim and was scared of heights.

His mother told KDKA-TV that she’s hopeful she’ll learn more about what led to Benton’s death now that his body has been found.

Allegheny County police investigated and did not find anything irregular.
