COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the midlands of South Carolina.

Forecasters say the watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the weather service, numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms will cross the area, with a few thunderstorms possibly becoming severe and capable of producing damaging winds, isolated tornadoes and marginally severe hail.



The area is also under a flash flood watch through Wednesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to cross the area Wednesday, with stronger storms possibly producing damaging wind gusts.
