LAKEWOOD, Wash. (AP) - A black bear that made its way into a Lakewood, Washington neighborhood was tranquilized with two darts before being placed into a trap to be relocated.

Lakewood police Lt. Chris Lawler says they received reports at about 9 a.m. Monday of a bear wandering in some backyards and fields.

Police kept the bear contained until officers with the Department of Fish and Wildlife arrived.

Lawler says one officer used a dog to coax the bear into a tree. Another officer shot the bear with a tranquilizer dart and it eventually climbed a tree.

They shot it with a second dart, and the bear fell out of the tree.

Lawler says the bear was not injured, and he was moved out of the area.
