WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A murder trial has been postponed after a key out-of-state witness refused to board a flight to Massachusetts, saying he feared for his safety.

The Telegram & Gazette (https://bit.ly/2qtB7Py ) reports that a judge Monday rescheduled 24-year-old Fathi Jaara’s trial to June 8.

Jaara faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the 2014 killing of Christian Obeng. Prosecutors say the killing was gang-related.

The judge excused the jury and said a new jury will be selected. Testimony will start June 11.

Jaara’s lawyer objected to the delay.

Prosecutors say Jaara had his brother drive him and another man armed with a handgun to an apartment complex where rival gang members were seen. Obeng was killed in an exchange of gunfire. The alleged gunman was acquitted in a separate trial.
