OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A federal prosecutor who won a conviction against former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been charged with domestic violence against his mother.
Mike Bullotta told police that his 78-year-old mother has dementia and faked a fall on April 9 at his home in Oakland County. But he’s been charged with a misdemeanor.
The Detroit News (https://detne.ws/2qpqC2k ) says Bullotta’s sister alerted police after his son called her. His sister said there was a dispute about dogs. But Bullotta told police that his mother was upset for other reasons.
Defense attorney Pamella Szydlak calls the charge “unfounded.”
Bullotta was a key member of the team that took Kilpatrick to trial on corruption charges in 2012. He said Kilpatrick turned city hall into a “private profit machine.”
