Father charged with murder in death of his unborn baby

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham police have charged a father with murder in the death of his unborn baby.

Police say 29-year-old Earl Thomas is in jail as the result of a March 21 shooting, in which a woman accused her husband of shooting her. WBRC-TV (https://bit.ly/2qgDwha ) reports the woman went to UAB Hospital and was treated, but she lost her unborn child.

At the time, Thomas was charged with attempted murder. He was being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $200,000 bond. On Friday, the charge was upgraded to murder.

He remains in jail at this time.
