HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - William Carey University expects to award more than 700 degrees Friday and Saturday.
The Baptist university will start commencement ceremonies Friday, awarding graduate degrees at a Hattiesburg ceremony where orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal Gregg will speak.
Charles “Chuck” Scianna, who owns an oilfield pipe company, will address students earning bachelor’s degrees Saturday morning in Hattiesburg.
Finally, Pearl River Community College Vice President Adam Breerwood will speak to graduates of the university’s Biloxi campus Saturday afternoon.
The university earlier awarded an honorary degree to University of Southern Mississippi President Rodney Bennett, honoring his aid to William Carey following the January tornado that hit William Carey’s main campus. USM provided academic and dormitory space.
William Carey is holding Hattiesburg ceremonies at an off-campus church because of damage to its auditorium.
