HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Hampton dwellers may start seeing a half-taxi, half-police car rolling around the city.
The Daily Press reports (https://bit.ly/2r0wShF) the car is a partnership between Hampton Police and Yellow Cab of Hampton to deter people from driving under the influence.
There are two prices displayed on the car - one on the police portion says $8,100 and one on the taxi part says $15. The numbers point out the differences between calling a cab and paying the fines associated with a DUI.
Frank Azzalina, a spokesman for Yellow Cab of Hampton, says he hopes people will see the car and think they would rather be in a taxi.
Police spokeswoman Ashley Jenrette says the car will be parked around the city and brought out for events.
